Karrar Al-Azzawi is an Iraqi director and cinematographer who lives in Norway. He graduated from the Norwegian TV School, with BFA in Film Directing. His vision is to contribute to changing the world by fostering greater understanding and solidarity between people.

“Baghdad on Fire” is Al-Azzawi’s international debut film which has had its world premiere at CPH:DOX 2023 and was nominated for the FACT:AWARD and won the Audience Award at the Nordic Docs Film Festival and the Audience Award for Best Documentary Film at the Twin Cities Arab Film Festival as well as several nominated at various international film festival.
The film was shown on Al Jazeera, BBC Arabic, NRK, DRTV, and Aftenposten TV. In addition, he is working on a documentary film called “Dreaming Souls” which tells the story of two girls with Down Syndrome, one girl from Iraq and one from Norway.
